Musk Expresses "Disappointment" with Trump's "Spending Bill"

Musk appears to be dissatisfied with the massive spending bill that the House passed reluctantly at the urging of President Trump. In a rare criticism of an initiative supported by the president, Musk spoke out in an interview segment released on Tuesday, stating that this "big beautiful bill," endorsed by Trump, contradicts the goals of the "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE) he leads.

"To be honest, I am disappointed with this massive spending bill because it actually increases the deficit instead of reducing it, which undermines the work being done by the DOGE team," Musk added. "I think a bill can be 'big' or 'beautiful,' but personally, I don't think it can be both."

The DOGE initiative Musk initiated promises to save $2 trillion. To date, the agency has downsized or closed 11 federal agencies and approximately 250,000 federal employees have left their positions, claiming to have saved taxpayers $160 billion. However, according to the nonpartisan Penn Wharton Budget Model at the University of Pennsylvania, based on Treasury Department weekly data analysis, overall government spending is actually increasing.
