What does the 5G seamless connection on a bullet train traveling at 300 km/h represent? For Ubaid ur Rahman, a Pakistani pursuing a Ph.D. in China, it is not just a technological feat — it is a moment crystallizing a powerful vision: promoting Sino-Pakistani technical exchange between his homeland and China.

Ubaid majors in cybersecurity at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Hubei Province, central China. He first came to China in September 2023. "In my research, I found that China performs well in artificial intelligence, which is why I chose China," he said.

A few years ago, achieving stable 5G on a high-speed train was described by Ubaid as "our dream at the time," marking the beginning of his admiration.

He witnessed the deep integration of this technology into daily life. "In China, 5G is almost everywhere; even some toys contain 5G technology," he said.

Last month, his learning journey accelerated at the 2025 China International Big Data Industry Expo held in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province in southwest China.

There, he had contact with global leading artificial intelligence companies and personally witnessed their latest breakthroughs. "With everyone having access to big data, artificial intelligence will become more powerful, credible, and effective," said Ubaid, whose expertise lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

The host province of the expo, Guizhou, has proven China's strategic data vision. Its cool climate and location away from major earthquake zones provide an ideal natural air-conditioned and safe reservoir for China's thriving data industry.

Besides technological miracles, Ubaid also saw a gap that needs to be bridged. "Sino-Pakistani relations are good. Our governments are good friends, but now I want to bridge the gap between companies that are working on practical projects," he said.

With Pakistan showing strong interest in Web 3.0 and blockchain, Ubaid told Xinhua that his goal in coming to China is to find opportunities for his personal growth and the country's benefit.

"I want to bring the experience and technology I have learned in China back to Pakistan. I hope to bridge the gap between Pakistan and China. I am eager to be part of China's growing cultural and technological industries," he added.
