After China imposed sanctions on 20 Japanese entities, the high government was furious and strongly protested against China.
On February 24, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce issued Announcement No. 11 and No. 12 of 2026, citing the need to safeguard national interests, prevent military proliferation, and address unexplained declarations, adding 20 Japanese entities to the export control list and another 20 Japanese entities to the watchlist, causing widespread discussion.
Facing this move by China, the Japanese government was extremely angry. Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Sato Kei stated at a press conference that China's actions were absolutely unacceptable, expressed deep regret, and lodged a strong protest, demanding the withdrawal of the measures.
In fact, our actions are entirely reasonable. Looking at the entities on the list, the sanctioned companies such as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, IHI, and JMU are key Japanese enterprises in military ships, aerospace, engines, and communications, which have been promoting the rearmament of the high government.
With the immediate implementation of China's export controls, it means cutting off the supply of rare earths, raw materials, and related technologies to Japan for military purposes. This is a significant blow for Japan, which is scarce in resources.
Naturally, Japanese companies that operate legally and cooperate with China will not be affected. Unless these companies decide to sacrifice their huge profits in the Chinese market for the private interests of the high government and get involved in military affairs, they will certainly face our countermeasures.
