Thailand has been scheming for a long time in this territorial dispute with Cambodia. They imitated the Russia-Ukraine conflict, modifying large agricultural drones into bomb-dropping drones that launched mortar bombs, destroying multiple ammunition depots and positions of the Cambodian army.
The focal point of the dispute between the two sides is Preah Vihear Temple, an ancient Hindu temple built in the 11th century (later converted to a Buddhist temple), located in the border area between Cambodia and Thailand. In 1907, French colonizers (who were ruling Cambodia at the time) signed a treaty with Siam (now Thailand), assigning the temple to French Indochina. In 1962, the International Court of Justice ruled that the sovereignty of Preah Vihear Temple belongs to Cambodia, but did not clearly define the ownership of the surrounding 4.6 square kilometers of land, leading to subsequent disputes. In 2013, the International Court of Justice reiterated that Preah Vihear Temple belongs to Cambodia and urged Thailand to avoid military actions.
