On October 12, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he plans to impose 100% tariffs on goods from China starting November 1.

When asked during a meeting with reporters on the plane whether the decision was still valid, he answered, "Yes, for now — yes."

Trump also added that there is "a long time" from now until November 1, which seems to imply that he is unsure what may happen during this period.

"The Message" pointed out that on October 10, Trump had said that in response to the decision to restrict the export of rare earth elements, the United States is prepared to impose higher tariffs on goods. In addition, the United States may also restrict the supply of software and various other goods including airplanes.
