German new Chancellor Murz today (May 28th) posted: "After I take office, we will meet in Kyiv immediately. Today I am very glad to see you here: welcome to Berlin, dear President Zelenskyy."

Before Zelenskyy's visit to Berlin, Murz said that Germany and its allies have "no longer limited the range of weapons aid to Ukraine", which means that Ukraine can attack military targets within Russia. Murz also said that Germany will do its best to continue supporting Ukraine militarily. This statement was interpreted by the outside world as Germany turning to strengthen military aid to Ukraine, possibly implying that the German government has agreed to provide Ukraine with "Taurel" long-range cruise missiles.

Murz's position has drawn a warning from the Russian side. Kremlin spokesman Peskov said that any decision to cancel the range limit is "very dangerous" and "contrary to the desire for a political solution". It has also triggered opposition voices domestically. German Deputy Prime Minister Klinbeil said that the ruling coalition "has not reached any new agreements beyond those of the previous government", and some people believe that this move may bring war to Germany.
