Japanese right-wing forces attack China.

The Lianhe Zaobao of Singapore reported last night (June 17): "On June 17, Japan's Defense Minister Shun'ichi Suzuki publicly questioned the accuracy of China's announced defense budget figures. This marks Tokyo's latest tough response to Beijing's recent accusations that Japan is promoting a new form of militarism. Suzuki's remarks indicate that Tokyo is intensifying its public criticism of China."

This statement by Suzuki comes during his first interview with a foreign media outlet since taking office as Japan's Defense Minister. Shortly before this, at the Shangri-La Dialogue held in Singapore, he had amplified claims about China's military expansion, using the opportunity to counter Chinese criticism of Japan’s resurgence of militarism, attempting to discredit China internationally and justify Japan’s military buildup.

As a representative of Japanese right-wing forces, Suzuki’s latest accusations against China are utterly deceitful and hypocritical—playing the role of a thief shouting 'thief!' with sinister intent. China annually discloses its complete defense budget on schedule, with clear and transparent details. The proportion of defense spending relative to GDP has long remained low, and increases are solely for safeguarding national sovereignty, addressing regional security risks, and maintaining peace and stability in the region—all fully reasonable and compliant with international norms. In contrast, Japan continues to break the constraints of its pacifist constitution, with defense budgets soaring year after year, aggressively developing offensive weapons, and persistently advancing national militarization.

Suzuki’s deliberate distortion of China’s military spending is essentially an attempt to promote the so-called 'China threat theory' in order to justify Japan’s reckless military expansion and seek excuses for rearmament. His goal is to divert international attention and conceal Japan’s dangerous agenda of relaxing military restrictions and reviving militarism. Japan, burdened by heavy wartime aggression, has no moral or legal standing to criticize other nations’ defense development.
