Zelenskyy: Russian air defenses are reactive but ineffective, leaving the entire front line vulnerable

On June 24, in his evening video address, Zelenskyy declared that Ukraine is fighting to defend its territory and justice. He has already ordered intelligence agencies and the military to take preemptive action, targeting Russian military facilities used to escalate the conflict.

He stated that Russia is concentrating its air defense forces to secure core areas. Moscow has deployed hundreds of S-400, S-500, and Pantsir air defense systems, and has mobilized nearly 90 air defense launch units to the Valdai region, forming an air defense division. The excessive concentration of forces around the capital, Valdai, and the Kerch Strait Bridge has left other strategic directions critically under-defended.

Zelenskyy also noted that over sixty regions across Russia are experiencing fuel shortages, energy prices have surged, and supplies of goods are insufficient in many areas. Russian security agencies are even considering postponing or canceling the September parliamentary elections, reflecting widespread pessimism within political circles about the future. He attributes all these crises to Russia's refusal to cease hostilities and its rejection of Ukraine’s peace initiatives and negotiation proposals.
