Media: US tariffs have led to a surge in EU imports of clothing from China

The Financial Times cited the European Textile and Apparel Federation, which said that due to a significant increase in US import tariffs and Chinese manufacturers adjusting their business directions accordingly, imports of clothing and other textile products from China by EU countries increased by 20% this year.

"We are talking about this tariff war, and you can see that China is reducing its exports to the United States. A large amount of exports have shifted to Europe, partly because the prices of goods we import are lower. Since they cannot sell in the United States, Chinese companies are aggressively entering the European market," said Mario Jorge Machado, chairman of the European Textile and Apparel Federation.

The association said that imports from China have increased by 2 billion euros. Machado pointed out that European textile companies are currently facing a severe market environment because they are forced to compete with cheap Chinese products.

In April this year, the United States announced tariffs on products from 185 countries and regions.
