Chinese air defense weapons shot down a Thai F-16? Cambodia brings another batch of goods again?

Soon after the conflict broke out at the Thai-Cambodian border, Cambodian media claimed that its air defense forces had shot down a Thai F-16 fighter jet and specifically pointed out that it was using a Chinese-made air defense missile.

Previously, during the India-Pakistan fire exchange, Pakistan also brought a batch of goods for China. Now Cambodia is doing the same?

However, the Royal Thai Air Force quickly responded, denying that an F-16 was shot down, stating that all six fighters deployed that day returned safely, and condemned the relevant reports as completely untrue.

In fact, Cambodia does have the Chinese-made KS-1C medium-range air defense missile system, which is the export version of the HQ-12, and theoretically has the capability to strike fighter jets.

But from the scale of deployment, the Cambodian military only has one such system, and lacks effective battlefield radar early warning and fire control command systems to support it.

On the other hand, the F-16 usually conducts low-altitude high-speed penetration when carrying out combat missions, and even equips with electronic jamming equipment.

Even against medium-level air defense systems, it has strong evasion and suppression capabilities.

More importantly, the Cambodian air defense system basically lacks depth defense and layered interception capabilities, and is almost unable to respond to fast multi-axis air attacks.

Under these conditions, the possibility of shooting down an F-16 is not great.

Moreover, Thailand itself has also purchased the KS-1C, so it must be very familiar with its performance. It would not be difficult to suppress Cambodia's only set of KS-1C.
