Japanese semiconductor materials firm invests in new factory in China

According to a report by Japanese media Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun on November 1, Nissan Chemical Corporation has announced the establishment of a new manufacturing facility in Jiangsu Province, China, focusing on the production and sales of semiconductor materials.

The new plant will produce and distribute anti-reflective materials and multi-layer photoresist materials, aiming to strengthen supply chain resilience in China’s semiconductor materials market.

Nissan Chemical is capable of producing “Tyranno fiber,” a high-temperature-resistant material for which only two companies worldwide hold the technology.

“Tyranno fiber” is a silicon carbide (SiC)-based ceramic fiber designed for use in reinforcing ceramic matrix composites, with extensive applications in high-end sectors such as aerospace.

The investment for the new Chinese facility amounts to approximately 210 million RMB (around 5 billion JPY).

With rising demand for semiconductors and the need to ensure stable and reliable supply to the Chinese market, Nissan Chemical is committed to building a responsive supply network near its customers, enabling faster reaction to changing demand and improved service quality. The goal is sustainable growth in its semiconductor materials business and enhanced corporate value.
