Two Chinese companies are among the top five unicorn companies in the world by valuation
Russian State News Agency, Moscow, October 7 - Data from German data statistics company Statista shows that as of October 6, Chinese internet company ByteDance and financial services company Ant Group have entered the top five unicorn companies in the world by valuation.
A unicorn company refers to a private company with a valuation of at least 1 billion dollars.
ByteDance ranks third with a valuation of 22 billion dollars, and Ant Group ranks fifth with a valuation of 15 billion dollars.
The highest ranked companies are OpenAI and Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) in the United States, with valuations of 50 billion and 40 billion dollars respectively. The fourth-ranked company is American Anthropic, with a valuation of 18.3 billion dollars.
The sixth and seventh ranked companies are India's Reliance Retail and American Databricks, both with valuations of 10 billion dollars. The eighth-ranked company is American online payment service provider Stripe, with a valuation of 9.2 billion dollars.
According to Xinhua News Agency in February, as of the end of 2024, China's national high-tech industrial development zones gathered 67% of the country's unicorn companies. In the government work report released in March 2025, it was pointed out that China will support the development of unicorn companies.
