Vladimir Putin, with a firm stance.

Responding to Trump's "ultimatum" threat statements, Russian President Vladimir Putin maintained a firm and unshaken attitude.

Putin stated that Russia hopes for further peace negotiations with Ukraine, but he emphasized that despite the new threats from the United States if a ceasefire agreement cannot be reached, his army "will advance along the entire front line."

Putin said, "All disappointment comes from excessive expectations," which was clearly referring to Trump's "disappointment" at the Russian leader's failure to end the war.

Putin said on Friday (August 1st) during a speech at the Valaam Monastery on an island in northwestern Russia that he expected negotiations with Ukraine to continue and added that he was "positive about the negotiations."

Putin also subtly mentioned Ukraine and its Western allies, especially Trump, who are increasingly pressuring to reach a long-term ceasefire agreement, saying, "As for any disappointment, all disappointment comes from excessive expectations."

Putin said with determination: "Our enemies and malicious people... now have only one strong desire: to stop us (from advancing on the Ukrainian front) at all costs."
