IT Home, March 9th report, Amphenol (China) today announced that, based on its independently developed "12-inch platform" innovation practice, it has successfully achieved mass production of 12-inch wafer bipolar discrete devices in small batches.

According to the introduction, under the current trend of the semiconductor industry continuously developing towards 12-inch advanced process and special process, bipolar discrete devices (IT Home note: such as transistors, diodes, etc.) as the "basic cell" of various electronic systems, their performance and reliability are crucial. The small batch 12-inch wafer bipolar discrete devices by Amphenol (China) are not simply a transplantation of existing 8-inch products, but through the independent development of the "12-inch platform", they have comprehensively optimized and reconstructed the chip structure, process integration, and manufacturing process.
Compared with traditional 8-inch processes, bipolar discrete devices using 12-inch wafers can produce nearly twice as many chips on a single wafer, significantly improving production efficiency and raw material utilization, further reducing unit costs.
At the same time, Amphenol (China)'s technical team optimized the original process parameters and successfully achieved mass production of Schottky rectifiers on the "12-inch platform", and smoothly passed the AEC-Q101 automotive-grade standard certification for application in the automotive field. The device uses a flat lead surface mount design, featuring compact size and excellent electrical performance, with low forward voltage drop, low reverse recovery charge, low recovery current, and low leakage current characteristics. Combined with advanced die bonding technology, it ensures high power handling capability and reliability, making it an ideal choice for high-efficiency DC-DC converters, LED lighting, switch-mode power supplies, flyback circuits, reverse polarity protection, and OR-ing applications.
Additionally, a new ESD protection device based on 12-inch wafer testing has also been successfully developed, providing optimized protection for transmission lines, effectively protecting against electrostatic discharge (ESD), surge currents, and short circuits. It is suitable for mobile phones, portable electronic devices, etc.
