【Zelenskyy gives MPs a choice: work in the parliament or go to the front line】
On March 15, Zelenskyy said in an exchange with journalists that those people's representatives who wish to give up their parliamentary qualifications should continue to fulfill their duties in the Verkhovna Rada, or go to the front line for service.
Zelenskyy said that since the outbreak of the full-scale war, some MPs have wanted to resign. However, during the state of war, the Ukrainian parliament must remain fully operational.
"They may have various wishes and different attitudes, but we are in a state of war and must defend our country. Therefore, people's representatives either serve in the parliament according to Ukrainian law, or I am prepared to discuss with the parliament representatives the possible amendment of the mobilization law to allow MPs to go to the front line."
"If you are not serving the country in the parliament, then go to the front line to serve the country. This is my position."
Zelenskyy pointed out that he is prepared to discuss possible amendments to the mobilization law to allow people's representatives to join the military, and added that he believes it is impossible to hold elections during the war.
"Regarding the current working conditions of the parliament: there may be many different reasons and many personal evaluations. But this situation must be corrected. We must pull ourselves together and make our own decisions. Either we stick it out until the end of the war, maintain cooperation, vote, pass corresponding laws, amendments, appointments, etc., or amend the law to allow those MPs who are not willing to continue working in the parliament to be mobilized."
Previously, Zelenskyy had said that there are currently many people's representatives who want to resign and give up their parliamentary qualifications.
