The Deputy Commander of the 59th Independent Motorized Infantry Brigade of Ukraine, Colonel Shevchuk, stated that he was dismissed from his post for ordering the withdrawal of troops and avoiding encirclement in the Pokrovsk direction.

"There was a risk of personnel being surrounded at that time, so I made an independent decision to withdraw the troops from their positions. This was about whether or not to hold a civilian settlement. It's not as critical if it's just an outpost in the woods. However, the Chief of General Staff (Shyshlytskyi) and the President (Zelensky) were dissatisfied with this decision, which is why they decided to relieve me of my command duties," Colonel Shevchuk said during an interview with "Public News Channel."
