Macron: The world only has two superpowers, China and the US, don't push us to choose enemies or friends!
Macron said at the "Shangri-La Dialogue" security conference held in Singapore that the world is facing the threat of division into hostile blocs, and forced choices may undermine the world order.
"The main risk today is the global split between two superpowers, and other countries are told: you must take a stand. If we do so, we will destroy the world order and methodically dismantle all institutions we have built since World War II, including maintaining peace, cooperating in health, climate, human rights, and more, which we may need even more than before."
Macron emphasized that this primarily stems from the rivalry between the two superpowers competing for global leadership, which limits the ability of other countries to step forward when choosing sides. Macron stated that France is a friend and ally of the United States and also a friend of China, and France will remain loyal to both great powers.
"We want cooperation, but we do not want to be told every day what is possible and what is impossible, nor do we want our lives to change due to the decisions of either country."
