US Denies Agreement with South Korea on Semiconductor Tariffs!

American Commerce Secretary Rutnik, who led the tariff negotiations with South Korea, said on the 30th that the trade agreement reached during the South Korea-US summit did not include semiconductor tariff items.

"Even though the reciprocal tariff rates for South Korean goods and car and parts tariffs will be adjusted to 15%, semiconductor tariffs are not the subject of this agreement."

Previously, the office of President Lee Jae-myung released details of the trade agreement, announcing that the adjustment of semiconductor tariffs had been decided, but Rutnik denied this statement.

Rutnik said that South Korea has decided to invest in areas designated and approved by the US, and has fully opened its domestic market.

"The president held a special meeting with President Lee Jae-myung of South Korea. As a result of the meeting, South Korea agreed to invest 350 billion dollars in the United States, and these investments will be instructed and approved by the president. The president designated the shipbuilding industry as the first investment area and decided to invest at least 15 billion dollars for shipbuilding within the United States. He also approved a South Korean shipbuilding company in Philadelphia to build nuclear-powered submarines. The reconstruction of the American shipbuilding industry is the foundation of our national security."
