The capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, has seen numerous fires due to Russian air strikes. Civilians have captured footage of Ukraine deploying Ka-32 firefighting helicopters to draw water from the Dnipro River for fire suppression. These Ka-32 helicopters were originally from Portugal; in 2007, Portugal purchased six of these helicopters for its own firefighting teams and retired them in storage in 2018. In 2024, Portugal handed over these helicopters to Ukraine.
In the Russian air strike on June 10th, Ukraine reported a total of 322 airborne targets (missiles and suicide drones) detected. The Ukrainian military claimed to have shot down 220 targets, while 64 were suppressed using electronic warfare equipment, showing a very high interception rate. However, from the numerous videos captured by Ukrainian civilians, it is clear that the war report released by the Ukrainian military contains significant exaggerations.
