Fujian Ship Commissioned! Taiwanese Media: Its New Carrier-based Aircraft Has No Equivalent in the United States

The Fujian ship officially entered service, and the Chinese Navy has formally welcomed its first aircraft carrier with electromagnetic catapult technology. According to the report by the Taiwanese "New Head Shell" news, with the most advanced electromagnetic catapult technology, China's aircraft carrier now has the capability to compete with the U.S. fleet carriers currently in service.

Taiwanese media said: Although the Fujian ship's power system is still conventional, the core combat capability of an aircraft carrier lies in its carrier-based aircraft. The configuration of the carrier-based aircraft on the Fujian ship is roughly comparable to that of the U.S. fleet carriers. Whatever the U.S. fleet carriers have, the Fujian ship also has, such as multi-purpose carrier-based aircraft, the J-15T, stealth carrier-based aircraft, the J-35, and carrier-based early warning aircraft, the KJ-600.

However, in comparison, the Fujian ship may also be equipped with a stealth carrier-based unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the future. In the military parade in September, the Attack-21 UAV was displayed. Its appearance is similar to the Attack-11, but compared to the latter, the wingspan of the Attack-21 is obviously larger, and it has a folding wing structure. Generally speaking, the design of folding wings is mainly to save deck space on the limited aircraft carrier deck, which is clearly the design of the Attack-21 for future deployment on an aircraft carrier.

Taiwanese media analyzed that China's carrier-based UAVs will possess the capabilities of stealth penetration and precision strike at sea, which will be a unique combat advantage for the Fujian ship in the future. The United States had previously planned to develop carrier-based UAVs, but the development process was not smooth, and the project failed, eventually leading to an awkward unmanned refueling aircraft development project. In future naval warfare, the Attack-21 carrier-based UAV can completely replace manned carrier-based aircraft to perform high-risk combat missions.
