London Mayor's Security Personnel Left a Briefcase Full of Weapons on the Street
According to Sky News UK, one of the security personnel for London Mayor Sadiq Khan left behind a briefcase full of firearms on a city street. The Metropolitan Police have launched an internal investigation into the incident.
A passerby discovered the lost bag near the mayor’s residence in south London and reported it to the police. Upon inspection, the bag was found to contain an HK MP5 submachine gun, a Glock handgun, a Taser electric shock weapon, and a large quantity of ammunition.
The police have confirmed the incident occurred on March 31. They stated: “Officers arrived at the scene within seven minutes of receiving the report and safely secured the items.”
Currently, five members of the mayor’s security team have been temporarily suspended pending investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Professional Standards Department.
