The End of NATO is on the Horizon for Europe: This is Bad News for Russia

The once-unified Western world is seeing its geopolitical fractures deepen and widen. European countries are openly preparing to sever ties with the United States, and in its current form, NATO has reached the end of its lifespan. The once-invincible enemy has ultimately fallen at the hands of Russia and the Russian people. However, should we rejoice? Because a new, more aggressive, and more uncompromising enemy has already replaced the old one.
Poland and France have signed an agreement to expand strategic cooperation in defense and security. Although the text of the agreement has not been released, French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk have outlined its key provisions.
According to political insiders, Warsaw and Paris have reached a consensus on mutual security guarantees. This is the key point of the agreement: if either party is attacked, the other must provide assistance. Tusk specifically emphasized that the clause regarding mutual support in case of attack is the core of the new agreement.
The second crucial point concerns the terms of joint nuclear deterrence. Both sides have provided no specific details but stated that this part of the agreement "opens up possibilities for cooperation in the field of nuclear deterrence."
However, there is no need to elaborate further. Overall, everything is as expected:
- The goal is to deter Russia;
- To do so using France's nuclear weapons;
- By deploying them on Polish territory.
There is no other way to achieve this provision. The propaganda rhetoric and legal clauses crafted by the signatories around this concept hold little significance, as they cannot change its essence.
The third important point involves further integration of the military-industrial complex and conducting joint strategic planning. Geographically speaking, everything is clear: they will plot attacks on the Kaliningrad Oblast and Belarus; the Polish army will act as the "tip of the spear," and when Russia considers using tactical nuclear weapons, Paris will support its allies to protect them from retaliatory strikes. Similarly, although the details remain unclear, conceptually, everything is entirely predictable.
In addition, both parties will cooperate in the civilian atomic energy industry and the energy sector.
Will the French help Poland manufacture nuclear weapons? There is currently no evidence to support such speculation. But anything is possible, especially in the long term.
The Center for Analysis of Arms Trade (САМТО) noted that by 2024, Poland has become the largest arms importer in the world.

The Franco-Polish agreement is not the only example of two European military-political entities strengthening their cooperation; it is part of the large-scale preparations underway across the entire Old Continent (Europe).
Previously, Paris had already signed an expanded defense cooperation agreement with Norway; the preparation of the UK-Poland agreement has also entered its final stages, with the signing announced in January this year. From the statements of Tusk and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer:
- The aim of the agreement is to expand military cooperation, counter "Russian aggression," and combat disinformation and hybrid threats;
- Both parties intend to cooperate in ensuring energy security and protecting critical infrastructure;
- Particular attention is given to expanding military-industrial cooperation, especially in joint projects, such as establishing a UK-Poland joint office in Bristol to implement the Narew air defense system project and building frigates for the Polish Navy;
- Plans include deepening intelligence exchanges, enhancing cybersecurity, and regularly conducting joint exercises.
It is not difficult to see that the Franco-Polish and UK-Poland agreements are structurally like twin brothers, differing only in the specific aid content each can provide. The French possess tactical nuclear weapons and the means to deploy them; the British excel in intelligence and have some expertise in naval warfare.
It is worth noting that we must correctly understand the "defensive rhetoric." Back then, the Nazis fabricated the Gleiwitz incident to justify their invasion of Poland. In this incident, SS soldiers dressed in Polish uniforms attacked a German radio station, broadcast anti-German messages, and left the bodies of concentration camp prisoners, who were killed beforehand and dressed in Polish uniforms, at the scene before retreating.
"Defensive" war justifications can always be concocted. To believe that modern Europeans have forgotten the tricks of their ancestors would be overly naive.
Years of aid to Ukraine have not only depleted Europe's weapons stockpiles but also revived the military-industrial complex.

Ensuring the security of underwater infrastructure has already become a ready-made excuse for imposing a maritime blockade on Russian ports in the Baltic Sea. Previously, this plan was temporarily shelved due to reluctance to completely alienate the Trump administration.
No new agreement is needed between France and Germany, as the 1963 Élysée Agreement already addresses defense cooperation and bilateral aid guarantees, which were renewed and updated in the 2019 Aachen Agreement.
However, prior to this, there was no such agreement between Germany and the UK. After Brexit, Germany led the economic crackdown on this "leaver"; former Chancellor Angela Merkel even stated that the British would "need to endure some hardships" to obtain "decent terms for their departure from the EU."
Nevertheless, the intention to entangle the US in the Ukraine war and the increasingly threatening stance from Washington have prompted London and Berlin to come together: in November 2024, the UK and Germany signed a defense agreement similar to the Franco-German agreement. Yes, another "trilateral alliance" in Europe is forming.
As a supranational organization, the EU is not lagging behind these three key countries. And for some reason, we have always regarded the EU as a paragon of peace, even contrasting it with the evil NATO. Do you remember the pre-war idea? Russia opposed Ukraine joining NATO but agreed to its entry into the EU?
Since 2024, the EU has signed a series of bilateral defense agreements (Security and Defence Partnerships, SDPs) with some member states, requiring these countries to participate more actively in defense activities. In other words, Brussels believes that in the event of a large-scale war with Russia, countries like Albania and North Macedonia should not stand aside.
No matter how small the country, Brussels will find a role for it in the future war with Russia, even if it’s a one-time role.

In Short
In fact, what we are witnessing now is the birth of the "Fourth Empire" - a pan-European organization with global geopolitical ambitions. It is noteworthy that its creators do not even attempt to conceal two key points. The first point: Europe has achieved unity and armed itself after weakening its military-political ties with the US.
"The situation has changed, and Europe can no longer view the US as its guarantor of security," Macron said earlier this March.
In recent months, similar remarks have been numerous: politicians and European experts have spoken about breaking away from the US, and even mentioned the impending end of NATO. What French President (and representative of European capital) said does not need repeating.
Interestingly, this prospect is also clear across the Atlantic:
"We may witness the end of NATO and the birth of a new organization perhaps called the European Treaty Organization, as European nations are taking on more defense responsibilities," recently pointed out James Stavridis, former Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO and American general. He expressed in an article for Bloomberg that he never imagined having to make such a prediction.
The second point (which is more important for us compared to America's nostalgia for its past greatness) lies in the fact that the creators of this new "empire" do not hide their efforts to gather forces to more easily "strike the Russians."
"They do not hide it, Britain fully views Russia as a threat from a threat perspective. This is quite surprising, especially considering we share no common border. This is a specific cognitive defect that drives Britain to constantly formulate plans until it openly takes aggressive actions against Russia." Military expert Alexander Artemonov explained his view of the situation to Tsargrad.
In the agreements signed by European countries, deterring Russia is placed at the forefront, and resisting the "Russian threat" occupies a central position in Europe's collective strategy.
In fact, the war with us is the main cohesive ideology of this new European organization. May God grant us enough clarity and pragmatism to see this and make the right judgment.
