RIA Novosti, New York, September 6 - According to a report by RIA Novosti journalist, the United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution on cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
120 countries voted in favor, 27 countries voted against, and 28 countries abstained. Countries that voted against include some European countries (such as Poland, Estonia, France, Finland, Latvia), as well as the United States and Ukraine.
Hungary, Italy, Japan, Portugal, and other countries abstained.
The United Nations General Assembly stated in the resolution that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization plays a constructive role in maintaining peace and sustainable development, and emphasized the importance of strengthening dialogue, cooperation, and coordination between the United Nations system and the SCO.
The co-sponsors of the resolution include Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
