Trump's approval rating has now fallen to a new historic low. His polling numbers are not only lower than those during the same period of his first term, but also show a net negative approval rate in all states except for nine. The American public overwhelmingly rejects Trump personally, his policies, and his performance in office. In fact, aside from the one-third of Americans who constitute his base—MAGA supporters—nearly all other Americans agree that Trump's second term, even if not a disaster, is at best a failure. No matter which polling organization, issue, phrasing, or demographic group is examined, Trump and his policies are consistently unpopular—even despised. His approval numbers were already poor before he recklessly launched war against Iran, and they have declined further since the conflict began. Moreover, these polls were conducted prior to Trump releasing that AI-generated image portraying him as Jesus. At the 15-month mark of his presidency, Trump’s public approval rating in his second term is extremely poor compared to previous presidents: his net approval stands at -21.6, falling behind Biden (-10.8), Obama (+2.3), George W. Bush (+57.0), and even his own first term (-13.3). At one year into his second term, only Nixon—whose approval ratings were severely damaged by Watergate—had a lower net approval rating (-29.6) than Trump’s current -16.2 (measured three months ago, before the Minneapolis ICE shooting and the Iran war occurred). These events have since further eroded Trump’s support, and his approval continues to decline.
