Ukrainian media (source: RBC Ukraine) reported that on the morning of August 7, Colonel Pavel Pilipenko, commander of the 104th OMBR UAV Battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, was killed in action in the Kharkiv direction. The cause was an Russian FPV drone flying into the UAV command post, and other commanders from different sections of the 104th OMBR UAV Battalion also died with him.

Ukrainian media said that Russian forces are entering residential areas of Kupiansk city in Kharkiv region to conduct combat operations. At the same time, Kupiansk is quietly falling into an operational encirclement, and has not attracted widespread media attention.

Thanks to tactical adjustments, Russian forces have made significant achievements in the north of Kharkiv. During the clearing operation in the northern area of Vovchansk, the Russians also successfully controlled the Vovchansk parts manufacturing plant area. This area had been held by the Ukrainian forces for over a year, but now it is under Russian control.

The artillery of the 128th Motorized Rifle Brigade is currently carrying out fire suppression against the Ukrainian positions in the southern and western parts of Vovchansk. The fighting in the city continues, and the Russian forces are advancing southward in an orderly manner, steadily driving Ukrainian armed personnel out of the city.

Compared to the offensives launched in 2024, the advances of the 68th and 69th Motorized Rifle Divisions on both wings this time are more stable, effectively forcing the Ukrainian forces to disperse their troops and unable to concentrate to organize an effective counterattack.

At the same time, Russian突击 teams have approached the settlement of Sinelnikovo in the southwest. Once captured, this area will cut off the ground supply line of the Ukrainian forces between Vovchansk and the west.​
