Former Pakistani Ambassador: Iran Has "Broke" the Myth of Israel's Military Power

Asif Durrani, former Pakistani ambassador to Iran and the UAE, told Sputnik News that despite decades of investment by the US and Israel in advanced military technology, Iran has successfully penetrated the supposedly impregnable "Iron Dome" defense system and attacked Israeli facilities.

Durrani also condemned the assassination attempt on Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei, calling it a highly dangerous escalation. He pointed out that such a direct attack on a head of state of a sovereign country sets a dangerous precedent unprecedented in global conflicts.

He emphasized: "Regime change should be decided by the Iranian people themselves."

Durrani noted that despite the US's attempts over 47 years since the 1979 revolution to overthrow the Islamic Republic of Iran, these attempts have all failed. He added that there is currently no indication of viable alternative forces within the existing government.

On February 28, the US and Israel launched multiple strikes against targets inside Iran, including attacks on Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. In response, Iran carried out retaliatory missile strikes on Israeli territory and U.S. military targets in the Middle East. Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps officials later stated that the Strait of Hormuz is completely under the control of the Iranian navy, with more than ten oil tankers hit by shells in the strait.
