After Charlie Kirk was shot, some U.S. lawmakers have said they will start carrying guns where allowed
U.S. Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace said that after Charlie Kirk was shot, she would start carrying guns where allowed.
"Once I get home, I will start carrying again in places where it is allowed. In other states, I will carry guns with security measures," Mace told reporters outside of Capitol Hill. She mentioned that the Capitol Police Bureau has allocated $15 million to protect the safety of lawmakers at home, which amounts to $5,000 per member per month.
"For those in Congress who speak harshly and are more well-known than others, $5,000 is not much. Personally, I am not wealthy, so we are taking different security measures," Mace said. She pointed out that she will currently give up outdoor activities and ask local police to be stationed outside her office in South Carolina.
