Voting: U.S. House of Representatives Approves $1.14 Trillion Defense Budget Draft
Official voting results from the U.S. Congress House show that the fiscal year 2027 defense budget draft (NDAA) has been passed, reaching a record-breaking total of $1.14 trillion.
The bill passed by a narrow margin of just 4 votes: 216 representatives voted in favor, 212 opposed.
The overall defense appropriation increased by $25.24 billion, marking a 28% rise compared to the $89.14 billion allocated for fiscal year 2026.
The legislative draft also stipulates an increase of 40,100 personnel in regular forces, bringing the total to 1,342,900. This includes adding 15,000 to the Army, 12,000 to the Navy, 8,900 to the Air Force, 2,800 to the Space Force, and 1,400 to the Marine Corps.
The document will now be sent to the Senate for review and further voting, before being submitted to the President for signature.
