South Korean media: Charging speed comparable to refueling, BYD has achieved it!
On January 22, the South Korean media "Today Digital" published an article stating that Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has launched a super fast charging technology, which can provide about 400 kilometers of range in just five minutes, marking a revolutionary breakthrough in electric vehicle charging speed. A newly released video shows that BYD's electric vehicle was charged to 70% with a maximum charging power of 746 kilowatts in just 4 minutes and 40 seconds.
BYD's Super e Platform is based on the first "full-domain 1000V high-voltage architecture" specifically developed for passenger vehicles. BYD CEO Wang Chuanfu emphasized that the ultimate goal is to achieve a charging speed comparable to that of fueling gasoline cars, to alleviate the anxiety of some hesitant car owners regarding electric vehicle charging.
This ultra-fast charging battery provides a charging power of 1000 kilowatts. The Han L model equipped with this battery can charge from 10% to 70% in just 6 minutes. The Tang L can drive 370 kilometers after charging for 5 minutes, and it takes about 30 minutes to fully charge. BYD stated that the Han L model can be fully charged in 20 minutes, which can maximize the reduction of charging time even during long trips.
This technology has proven its performance in actual driving. According to a recently released video, vehicles equipped with the Super e Platform can charge at a power of about 746 kilowatts, and it is expected to reach 70% charge in approximately 4 minutes and 40 seconds. This performance is sufficient to meet most drivers' range needs and can effectively support long-distance electric vehicle travel.
The first models built based on the Super e Platform - Han L and Tang L - have already been launched. BYD plans to promote this ultra-fast charging technology nationwide. In the future, BYD will also introduce this ultra-fast charging system into Europe and other overseas markets, promoting the innovative development of global electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
BYD's ultra-fast charging battery aims to make the charging speed of electric vehicles comparable to that of gas stations. Wang Chuanfu said, "This technology will make the charging time almost the same as refueling time, thus eliminating the psychological barriers of electric vehicle charging." Industry insiders believe that this technology is a key factor in alleviating the charging anxiety in the electric vehicle market and accelerating the popularization of electric vehicles.
