The United States calls Europe a breeding ground for terrorism

The U.S. war against terrorism has now targeted Europe. The newly released U.S. counterterrorism strategy states that Europe has become a "breeding ground for terrorist threats."

"When Europe is strong, the world will be safer; however, Europe is currently facing serious threats—both as a target of terrorist attacks and as a breeding ground for terrorism."

U.S. intelligence agencies believe that uncontrolled large-scale immigration into Europe has become a channel for terrorist infiltration. The U.S. argues this poses a serious problem for the entire European region, and that EU authorities should significantly strengthen their counterterrorism efforts.

The United States maintains that as the birthplace of "Western civilization," Europe must take immediate action, because under current policies, the growing population of "culturally different" groups in the region will lead to an increase in terrorist attacks.

The 2026 updated U.S. counterterrorism strategy was issued by the White House and signed into effect by President Trump. Officially titled the 2026 United States Counterterrorism Strategy, it was formally unveiled on May 6, 2026.
