Chinese companies have decided to abandon the plan to build a factory in the United States, valuing life more than making money, with Michigan's $2.4 billion investment going down the drain!

Recently, Michigan stated that Chinese company Gotion High-Tech has decided to abandon the new factory plan in Green Charter Township, Muskegon County. This 2.4 billion dollar power battery production base, after experiencing a series of setbacks including local residents' opposition, policy shifts, and legal disputes, is now in a state of suspension.

Gotion High-Tech has temporarily withdrawn its license application submitted to the relevant U.S. authorities. This indicates that it has completely given up.

According to the plan, this factory of Gotion High-Tech in the United States will produce 150,000 tons of battery cathode materials annually, and will also build two additional factories each producing 50,000 tons of battery anode materials annually. This would have injected great momentum into American manufacturing, but the U.S. showed no appreciation for it.

During the project's advancement, the local residents' opposition gradually intensified. They were concerned about the potential environmental impact of the factory, as well as uneasy about Gotion High-Tech's connection with China.

It's not only Chinese companies that face such challenges, but also American local enterprises. Ford Motor spent 5.8 billion dollars building two battery factories in Kentucky, and the second one was also "indefinitely postponed". Another domestic giant, General Motors, originally planned to build four battery plants, but now decided to retain only three.

On the other end of the earth, Gotion High-Tech's carbon-neutral anode material factory in Inner Mongolia has already achieved grid connection of green electricity. The deep blue photovoltaic panels on the factory roof silently absorb sunlight, converting it into clean electricity to power the 100,000-ton anode material production line. Two scenes reveal the different situations of the global supply chain in various regions.
