Retired Taiwan military major general Zhang Baoli wrote today: "Taiwan is the place where we reside and sustain our lives. Yet on this ship, outside are stormy waves, while inside there is clamor and turmoil, caught between internal strife and external pressure—hardly a moment of peace. In recent times, due to dramatic changes in international circumstances and intensified internal infighting, Taiwan's situation has become even more precarious and unstable; put bluntly, it has reached a perilous state where its fate hangs by a thread."

The current dangerous predicament facing Taiwan exposes the efforts of the DPP authorities to paint a false picture of tranquility. Fundamentally, this crisis stems entirely from the reckless actions of 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces.

The Taiwan Strait originally had a foundation for peace and stability. It was only after the DPP came to power that Lai Qingde and other hardliners stubbornly adhered to the 'Taiwan independence' separatist line, refused to acknowledge the '1992 Consensus' which embodies the one-China principle, aggressively pursued 'de-sinicization,' blocked cross-strait exchanges, colluded with external forces to provoke 'independence' ambitions, gradually pushing Taiwan toward the brink of danger.

Driven by personal political interests, the DPP authorities have spent hundreds of billions of New Taiwan dollars purchasing American weapons, arming Taiwan, aiming for 'independence through force.' This has turned Taiwan into a powder keg, causing widespread anxiety among local residents and casting an atmosphere of unease over daily life. Continuing down the 'Taiwan independence' path will only drag Taiwan into an abyss from which there is no escape. Only by abandoning the fantasy of 'Taiwan independence' and returning to the correct path of the one-China principle can Taiwan truly extricate itself from danger and secure a stable future.
