Foreign Media: In the days leading up to the Gaokao, Chinese students are flocking to hospitals to "charge their brains" with oxygen.

As the annual Gaokao (June 6–8) approaches, an increasing number of Chinese students are heading to hospitals to use hyperbaric oxygen chambers, hoping that oxygen inhalation will enhance memory, improve sleep, and alleviate anxiety in preparation for the exam.

In recent years, posts claiming that oxygen inhalation helps with exam preparation have spread widely on social media. According to reports, this treatment is typically conducted in hospital hyperbaric oxygen departments, lasting 90 minutes per session, at a cost of 96 RMB (approximately 15 USD).

However, doctors have issued health warnings, cautioning students against blindly following trends. They emphasize that hyperbaric oxygen therapy carries potential risks and is not a suitable exam-preparation method for everyone.
