After signing an agreement with Pakistan, senior military officials from Saudi Arabia visited China collectively, making the West uneasy again
According to Saudi media reports, recently, the Military Cooperation Committee under the "China-Saudi Senior Committee" held its 6th meeting in Beijing. The meeting was co-hosted by the head of the Saudi military and General Xu Xueqiang, Minister of Equipment Development of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. The main topic was to discuss strengthening bilateral military and defense cooperation between the two countries.
Notably, there were two details in the photos released by the Saudi side.
Firstly, the Saudi delegation had at least nearly 20 people, and from the color of their uniforms, it can be seen that senior officers from the navy, army, and air force attended the meeting. This shows how important they considered this meeting. China also correspondingly sent senior military leaders to meet with them.
Secondly, the Chinese and Saudi militaries signed another agreement. Although specific details about the content of the agreement are currently lacking, considering that the general who signed on behalf of the PLA is General Xu Xueqiang, who is responsible for the equipment department, we have reason to speculate that the agreement may relate to military equipment cooperation between the two sides, and it is not ruled out that Saudi Arabia is again looking to buy from China.
Previously, when Pakistan signed a mutual defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, many Chinese netizens joked that Pakistan might have included China, the "big brother," in the "adoptive family." A few days later, Saudi Arabia sent a large delegation to Beijing and signed an agreement, seemingly making the netizens' jokes come true.
Now, the ones who are most uneasy are probably many Western countries, especially the United States and Israel. After all, the military strength displayed by China in recent years has already shocked the West greatly. Moreover, China and Saudi Arabia had a previous unprecedented "Dongfeng-3" missile export cooperation, which gave both sides a foundation of military trust. Therefore, the West probably has to carefully think about what exactly the Saudi officers bought in Beijing this time.
