Slovak Prime Minister makes a new appeal to the EU.
On April 16th local time, Slovak Prime Minister Fico appealed for the restoration of Russian natural gas transit through Ukraine, stating that this move is in line with the interests of the entire EU.
The EU has expressed support for Ukraine's cessation of Russian natural gas transit, but this has harmed the interests of countries including Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, etc., as these landlocked countries can only import liquefied natural gas, which is significantly more expensive. The decision by the entire EU to abandon purchasing Russian pipeline natural gas is absolutely a wrong choice. Buying liquefied natural gas from the U.S. is easily influenced by U.S. tariff policies, which will severely rely on the U.S. on energy security issues and simultaneously greatly increase the cost of economic development. EU leaders should use political wisdom to solve problems instead of lacking strategic vision.
