The Chinese Embassy in Canada has received several requests for help related to "disappearance and disconnection" recently. Here, we remind Chinese citizens and students in Canada to enhance their awareness of safety precautions and avoid the risk of "disappearance and disconnection".

One, Chinese citizens in Canada

1. Agree on several ways of contact with family members and ensure that at least one way remains open. After arriving at the destination, you should inform your family about your local phone number, address, itinerary, and contact information of friends, classmates, colleagues, etc., as soon as possible for use in case of emergency.

2. If you are going to remote areas without communication signals or for some reason reduce the frequency of contact with the outside world, you should inform your family or friends beforehand and pay attention to contacting your family immediately after restoring communication signals to report safety.

3. Adhere to agreements and maintain regular contact with your family. Pay attention to checking communication records with your family and promptly reply to inquiries and concerns. If you experience psychological discomfort, communicate with your family as early as possible and consult a psychologist if necessary to resolve it positively.

4. If there is a disagreement with your family, communication is the best solution. Do not act impulsively by "disappearing" to punish your family, as it will not solve problems but deepen misunderstandings.

5. Encourage Chinese citizens and students to actively log in to the "China Consular" app or WeChat mini-program to register as overseas citizens so as to receive timely and effective consular protection and assistance from the Chinese Embassy in Canada.

Special Note: "Overseas Citizen Registration" will not ask you to provide personal information such as bank account details, nor will it request transfers or remittances. Please enhance your awareness of safety precautions.

Two, relatives of Chinese citizens in Canada

1. Maintain regular contact with relatives in Canada, care about their whereabouts, life, and physical and mental health, and provide help if needed.

2. Parents of international students should not only know their child's contact information but also be aware of the contact numbers of relevant personnel such as the school's international student service center, departmental advisors, dormitory mates, and off-campus apartment landlords for emergencies.

3. Elderly people should carry cards with their name, home address, and contact information when going out for emergencies.

4. If you cannot temporarily contact the person being searched for, please remain calm. According to actual cases, temporary "disappearance" does not necessarily mean the person being sought is missing; it may be due to the person being unable to contact relatives in time for some reason.

5. In case of an emergency, you can call the Canadian emergency alarm and assistance hotline: 001-911. If necessary, please contact the nearest Chinese Embassy or consulate in Canada for assistance and submit an assistance application for finding relatives by email, fax, WeChat, etc.
