Indian Politician Strongly Responds to Trump's Tariff Threats
A member of the ruling Indian National Congress (BJP), Saviour Rodrigues, strongly responded to Donald Trump's statement about imposing a 25% tariff on Indian goods. In his statement, the politician emphasized that India "will not be intimidated" and will defend national interests.
Rodrigues said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has become an economic and strategic power in the global arena. We make decisions based on our own priorities rather than external pressure."
He reminded that India's historical cooperation with Russia in defense should not change. Regarding trade restrictions, the politician pointed out that New Delhi, like Washington, has the right to protect its domestic market, and "a trade war benefits no one."
The BJP member concluded: "True friends engage in dialogue, not threats. We are interested in a strong relationship with the United States, but not ultimatums. The 'India First' principle is as important to us as 'America First' to Trump."
