South Korean media: Shanghai Auto Show, Chinese technology shows strength!
On May 12, South Korean media "The Korea Herald" published an article stating that the Shanghai Auto Show, known as the largest-scale auto exhibition in the world, has recently concluded.
The Shanghai Auto Show, which opened last month on the 23rd, was a ten-day exhibition showcasing global automakers' new car competition. This year, nearly 1000 companies from 26 countries and regions participated, surpassing traditional auto shows in the U.S. and Europe.
In fact, brands such as Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW Group, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and others also participated. The organizers said that this event was the largest in scale so far.
The Shanghai Auto Show and the Beijing Auto Show are held every other year, initially mainly as marketing events for China's vast automotive market.
However, analysis suggests that with leading Chinese electric vehicle enterprises like BYD accumulating intelligent mobility capabilities and leading the global market, the auto show itself is currently undergoing reorganization centered around Chinese enterprises.
Main domestic Chinese manufacturers such as SAIC Motor, Changan Automobile, BAIC Group, GAC, Geely, Dongfeng, and BYD all participated and showcased various new models.
China has become the largest automotive market in the world. In 2023, China's automobile sales reached 30.09 million units, a result of nearly 12% growth within just one year. Among these, 6.3 million were electric vehicles, leading the expansion of related businesses.
The market share of Chinese brands in the passenger car market has significantly increased, currently accounting for approximately 55%. This is due to increased interest in pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, with a growth rate of 37.9%, setting a new record.
Chinese enterprises also demonstrated advanced technologies during this event, exerting influence. CATL, which has rapidly risen to become a global battery enterprise, announced that the commercialization preparations for the second-generation sodium-ion battery Naxtra are complete, with mass production expected to begin in the second half of the year.
CATL explained that the battery's range is approximately 500 kilometers, and even at temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius, the charge can remain above 90% without significant power loss.
CATL also released its second-generation "Shenhang" battery, which greatly improves charging speed. The Shenhang battery has a range of up to 800 kilometers, and after 5 minutes of charging, it can travel 520 kilometers. It was also mentioned that even in cold weather, 80% charging can be achieved in 15 minutes.
