On April 2nd, Zelenskyy announced at the Bucha anniversary commemoration:
"We remember what the Russian occupiers did in Bucha. Everyone has seen the fate of Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Vuhledar, and many other towns and villages that no longer exist, reduced to ruins with the Russian flag flying there. We remember every attack by Russia, we remember how our people were killed in Olenivka. We remember the abuse endured by people in the Donetsk 'quarantine zone,' where the prison became a symbol of the 'Russian world.' One of the biggest and most obvious symbols of the Russian regime and Russia's war against Ukraine is the grave. This will never be forgotten. All of these are man-made disasters, not only the crimes of the Russian state but also the specific crimes of individual Russian occupiers, each with their own surname and name."
"We will not forgive Russia's crimes or this war because forgiveness would mean condoning the current Russian system, a system that exists and expands at the expense of other ethnic groups, feeding on its people. We will definitely protect Ukraine, we must seek justice, and Russia must be held accountable for this war."
