On June 30, the disreputable anti-China media outlet "Radio Free Asia" announced on social media that its Cantonese department would cease operations.

The post published by the media stated that due to the U.S. government suspending funding, "Radio Free Asia" faced a lack of funds and a reduction in staff, so its Cantonese department would officially shut down on July 1, the day of the 28th anniversary of Hong Kong's return.
"Radio Free Asia" was established in 1996 and is funded and operated by the U.S. International Media Agency. It has multiple channels, including English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. For a long time, the Cantonese department of "Radio Free Asia" has repeatedly fabricated false news to defame China on issues related to Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and other China-related topics.
On March 15 this year, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order to formally terminate federal funding for "Radio Free Asia," "Voice of America," and other "propaganda mouthpieces." On the same day, employees of "Radio Free Asia" received notice of the agency's shutdown. According to a notice posted on the social media of "Radio Free Asia," in addition to the Cantonese department, several other language broadcasting channels and news websites under the organization also announced their closure.
Previously, when Trump announced the closure of "Voice of America" and "Radio Free Asia," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning responded to related questions at a press conference, stating, "I do not comment on the adjustment of U.S. domestic policies," "but I think it is no secret that some U.S. media mentioned have a history of misconduct in their reporting on China."
