South Korean media: China hosts the world's first human-shaped robot fighting arena competition to accelerate seizing the initiative in the robotics market. The world's first human-shaped robot fighting competition was held in Hangzhou, China on the 25th. Following a half marathon competition with 21 human-shaped robots held in Beijing last month on the 19th, this fighting competition has become another attempt by China to launch a full-scale effort to seize the robotics market. On that day, at the "CMG World Robot Conference Series Competition" hosted by China Media Group (CMG), Unitree, a leading Chinese human-shaped robot enterprise, appeared as a partner. This company is known together with DeepSeek as one of Hangzhou's "Six Dragons". In the performance segment before the official competition, human-shaped robots showcased traditional Chinese martial arts in a sparring format. Subsequently, three elimination matches were held, where robots engaged in fierce competition through punches and kicks, with the intensity of the sparring scenes rivaling human arena competitions. Four teams participated in this competition. The control method involved humans using remote control devices consisting of two joysticks and eight buttons. According to China Central Television (CCTV), "the robot fighters have mastered 8 basic fighting moves and can combine them to execute straight punches, uppercuts, kicks, and other combo actions," and "the development process for complex movements used 'motion capture' technology similar to that used in film production." It is reported that during the initial research phase, the project team recorded the movement trajectories of key body parts of professional fighters during actual combat. After inputting the collected data into the robot system and undergoing numerous tests and adjustments, the robots are able to make attack and defense judgments within 0.3 seconds. The results showed an accuracy rate of 92%, and they can complete self-recovery within 4 seconds. The base price of Unitree Technology's G1 model participating in this competition is 99,000 RMB (approximately 18.88 million KRW). Beijing plans to host a robot sports competition in August this year, including events such as human-shaped robot marathons, football, and dance. Additionally, the "CMG World Robot Conference Series Competition" plans to expand its projects to include robot football, basketball, and more in the future.
