South Korean media: China's technological rise, innovative capacity enters the global top 10 for two consecutive years!

On April 23, South Korean media "Sedaily" published an article stating that leading with "technological rise," China's National Innovation Index, which is committed to technological innovation, has ranked tenth in the world for two consecutive years.

Recently, the Institute of Science and Development Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences released the "2024 National Innovation Index Report," announcing that China has maintained its ranking at tenth place following last year.

The National Innovation Index Report builds an evaluation index system from five aspects: innovation resources, knowledge creation, enterprise innovation, innovation performance, and innovation environment. In the assessment of the innovation capabilities of 40 countries comparable to China, the United States has ranked first since 2013, while South Korea ranks third.

China has rapidly risen from 38th place in 2000 to 20th place in 2011, and then consecutively climbed to 13th place in 2022 and 10th place in 2023. China is the fastest improving country in the National Innovation Index over the past decade and is the only middle-income country to enter the global top 10.

An expert stated: "China's innovative capacity is comparable to European countries with a per capita GDP of about $50,000, and it continues to steadily improve."

In terms of various assessment items, innovation resources rank fifth. Knowledge creation ranks seventh, where China continues to lead the world in the number of highly cited papers. Enterprise innovation ranks ninth. Although innovation performance ranks 22nd, advanced industry exports rank first, accounting for 22.3% of global exports. The innovation environment ranks 20th, with the entrepreneurship culture category ranking second, the level of R&D cooperation between enterprises and universities ranking fifth, and the availability of venture capital ranking eighth.
