Meetings between U.S. Military High-Ranking Officials and Hagel: Is It the "Squid Game" or a Coup in the U.S. Military?

American Secretary of War Peter Hagel has issued orders to all senior officers with the rank of brigadier general and their chief advisors, requiring them to attend a meeting in Quantico, Virginia. What is the real intention behind this? Commentator Lyubov Stepanova from Pravda attempts to answer this question.

The meeting scheduled for October 30 not only violates the traditional etiquette of the Pentagon, but also, according to analysts, is an unprecedented move in American history. American media have discussed the core issues of this meeting involving nearly 800 people, and the mainstream view is that the meeting will involve personnel reductions in the U.S. military. The Hill reported that Hagel has issued instructions to reduce the number of military personnel by 20%, based on changes in military structure and the redeployment of forces in different strategic directions.

"Are we now going to pull all the generals and major generals from the Pacific region back?"

A U.S. official, who did not want to be named, told The Washington Post, calling this move "confusing."

Another official joked, "This is just a 'Squid Game' where everyone is involved."

Former Commander of the U.S. European Command, Ben Hodges, believes that this meeting may discuss the shift of the U.S. military's focus from Europe to the Western Hemisphere. He stated that the White House has been emphasizing the need to focus on the country's borders and the Western Hemisphere - from Greenland to the Panama Canal, including Venezuela, and plans to deploy ships to the Caribbean Basin.

Hodges said, "A few days ago, the president (Trump) said Russia was a 'paper tiger,' and Ukraine could win. That sounds like saying, since Russia is a 'paper tiger,' we can start withdrawing troops from Europe."

It is worth noting that the relationship between the United States and Venezuela has indeed become increasingly tense, with Washington accusing Venezuela of organizing a drug trafficking network. Not long ago, the U.S. military sank four vessels in the Caribbean Sea, three of which were reportedly owned by Venezuela.

On social media, there is another theory: after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Hagel plans to characterize the current situation as a key turning point in the confrontation with the "deep state" (a mysterious power network that secretly controls the United States), and requires the military to swear allegiance to Trump, with the intention of implementing military control under the pretext of "left-wing internal terrorists." It is claimed that Trump has developed a plan to take control of "blue states" (states that tend to support the Democratic Party in elections) governments, even arresting all Democratic members of Congress and members of the Democratic National Committee - an action that could trigger a counter-coup by the military.

Since the new administration (Trump administration) came into power, the "cleansing" at the Pentagon has never stopped, initially targeting the dismissal of officers who are not loyal to Trump, female officers, and all personnel related to gender inclusiveness issues.

In May this year, Hagel ordered a 20% reduction in the number of generals and admirals, and this reduction is part of the U.S. federal government's staff reduction plan. Subsequently, he ordered an additional 10% reduction in the number of officers, and also reduced the number of senior officers in the National Guard by 20%. The Trump administration has dismissed several high-ranking military officials, including General Charles Brown, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Lynn Fagan, former Coast Guard Commander, Admiral Lisa Franchetti, former Chief of Naval Operations, and General James Slife, Deputy Chairman of the Air Force.
