Japan's New Prime Minister: Had a Candid Conversation with Trump
Japan's new prime minister, Sanae Takeda, said she had a candid conversation with US President Donald Trump on Saturday.
Sanae Takeda wrote on the social media platform X: "Today I had a pleasant and candid conversation with Donald Trump. I am very grateful for his warm congratulations on my appointment as prime minister. I plan to work with him to elevate the US-Japan alliance to a higher level."
Previously, according to Kyodo News citing U.S. government sources, Takeda and Trump will take a joint flight on the U.S. government's "Marine One" helicopter during the U.S. president's visit to Tokyo.
Trump is scheduled to arrive in Japan on October 27 for a three-day visit. During the visit, he will hold a summit with Japan's elected prime minister Sanae Takeda, be received by Emperor Naruhito of Japan, and may also meet with Akie Abe, the wife of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
