McDonald's not only sells limited edition items but also issues extremely rare "McGold Cards," which allow the owners to enjoy McDonald's meals for free under specific conditions. The exact number of these mysterious cards is unclear, but it is certain that only some elite and special individuals can possess them. Warren Buffett, the billionaire, and Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, are both cardholders.

The New York Post reported that the McGold Card is one of McDonald's legends. According to a post by McDonald's on Reddit, rumors about this card have been circulating for at least 40 years.

The report stated that the McGold Card is a physical card with a golden metallic appearance, but its design may vary depending on factors such as the issuing entity, whether it is from the headquarters or franchisees. Cardholders can enjoy free meals within a certain time frame, which could be for 50 years or even a lifetime, depending on the specific conditions. Some cards may only offer discounts at specific McDonald's locations.

Four people have publicly confirmed they are McGold Card holders: besides Buffett and Gates, actor Rob Lowe and late talk show host Regis Philbin are also cardholders.

In a 2007 interview titled "What's in Warren Buffett's Wallet?" Buffett showcased his McGold Card. He said the card allows him to eat for free at any McDonald's in his hometown of Omaha for life, joking that this is why his family eats at McDonald's during Christmas.

Gates confirmed he is a cardholder in a TikTok video by网红 chef Nick Digiovanni. In the video, he showed his card, which is golden with the words "BE OUR GUEST" engraved on it, along with his name, Bill Gates.

Rob Lowe mentioned in a talk show in 2015 that he is a McGold Card holder, but his card expired in 2016. He said his card was given to him by David Peterson, son of Herb Peterson, the inventor of the McMuffin, and it could be used at all locations in Santa Barbara and Goleta, California.

Mike Schur, Regis Philbin's son-in-law, revealed in 2022 that his father-in-law had a McGold Card, which is also valid for life.

In 2022, McDonald's held an event where the prize was a McGold Card. The card allowed winners to share free meals with up to three friends or family members, with the condition being limited to two free meals per week. The card's validity period was 50 years.
