Russian experts: North Korea's secret weapon may be a new hypersonic missile

Evgenei Kim, chief researcher at the North Korea Center of the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said in an interview with Sputnik News that North Korea's new secret weapon may be a new hypersonic long-range missile.

Previously, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un announced that he had a new secret weapon, strengthened the navy, and made significant changes in the development of North Korea's strategic forces.

Evgenei Kim said, "We are probably talking about North Korea having not only short-range hypersonic missiles."

This expert warned that North Korea has developed an engine with a thrust of 300 tons. He said that missiles equipped with this engine are fully capable of striking the U.S. mainland. Kim also pointed out that another important element of the new missile could be a multiple warhead system.

He also noted that North Korea may reach the level of producing cruisers within a few years. After becoming a maritime power, North Korea will be able to launch missiles against potential enemies from its own territory as well as from international waters.

He said, "I think we are talking about missile technology. Moreover, I believe they have the possibility of developing a nuclear submarine by 2027-2028."

Kim pointed out that North Korea relies on its own strength in weapons development. He said that North Korea has high-quality talent and a technical foundation, including foreign language professional literature, and closely follows developments in this field in other countries, including through the Internet.
