The Netherlands is heavily dependent on China for critical raw materials

A report from the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics indicates that the Dutch economy is significantly reliant on China for critical raw materials, with processing concentrated in China.

The report states: "More than 30 materials are considered vital to the EU due to their economic significance and risks of supply disruption. Of the eight materials most crucial to the Dutch economy, seven depend on Chinese processing."

Among these materials, gallium is the most important for the Netherlands, particularly in semiconductor production. Others include rare earth metals, germanium, graphite, lithium, cobalt, and metallurgical silicon.

The Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics notes that at least 74% of the processing volume for these seven materials originates from China. For example, 99% of gallium, 94% of graphite, and 84% of rare metals used in the Netherlands come from China.
