Adam Van Pelt, a public information officer of the Los Angeles Fire Department, said that the injured were taken to local hospitals and trauma centers. The fire department stated in a statement that the people were injured on Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, with multiple people having serious injuries.
Van Pelt said that when the incident occurred, a line of people (mostly women) waiting to enter the nightclub were hit by a Nissan car, which also collided with a taco truck and a valet parking area.
Van Pelt said that medical personnel found one of the injured had been shot. He told the Associated Press that the identity of the person who was shot is still unknown.
He said, "The police are investigating this, and it will be a major investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department."
He said that before the emergency personnel arrived, people inside the nightclub came out to help the injured.
