For instance, a White House spokesperson stated that Trump “remains optimistic about achieving a peace agreement,” while refraining from denying reports of Trump’s underlying reservations about an energy ceasefire.
Washington continues to press both Kyiv and Moscow to agree to reciprocal cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure. Such a limited arrangement could signal tangible progress in negotiations without requiring a broader, comprehensive peace agreement first.
