Today afternoon, the leaders of South Korea and the United States will hold talks at the Gyeongju National Museum in Inwang-dong, Gyeongju, marking their second meeting in over two months since the summit held in Washington in August.
The US President arrived in South Korea at 11:33 a.m. through Gimhae International Airport as a state guest, and immediately took a presidential helicopter to Gyeongju.
The visit to the Gyeongju Museum is the first official event of the President's visit to South Korea. President Lee Jae-myung of South Korea will greet Trump in front of the Millennium Beauty Hall of the museum. The two leaders will enter the museum together, sign a commemorative book, and then jointly tour the exhibition.
Following this, an official welcome ceremony will be held, during which the leaders will inspect the honor guard together and exchange greetings with their respective delegations. In recognition of the President's contributions to promoting peace on the Korean Peninsula, as a "peace maker," President Lee Jae-myung will present the President with the highest award of the South Korean government, the Order of the Paulownia Flowers.
The two leaders will then view the Silla gold crown displayed in the museum, after which President Lee Jae-myung will present the President with a specially made model of the Gyeongju Cheonmachong gold crown.
A lunch meeting will be attended by senior officials from both countries. On the South Korean side, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Woon-joon, Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul, Minister of Security and Safety Yoon Hyeong-wook, Minister of Industry, Trade and Energy Kim Jung-hwan, Assistant Secretary to the President's Office Kang Heung-jik, Director of the Policy Bureau Kim Yong-bum, and Director of the National Security Office Yi Seong-rok will attend. On the American side, White House Chief of Staff Wells, Secretary of State Rubio, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will attend.
The dinner menu starts with an appetizer of Thousand Island dressing, symbolizing the success story of the President's hometown, New York. Then comes rice made with Gyeongju's new rice, followed by three courses of Korean cuisine using seasonal ingredients from all over the country. It ends with a "golden dessert" that wishes for the prosperity and peace of the US-South Korea alliance.
Also on the same evening, a "Leaders' Dinner" will take place, attended by the heads of state of seven partner countries, including Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Thailand, and Singapore, led by the US President.
